Out of School Care Registration

Registration

Our Before & After School Program is full, but waitlist applications are being taken.

Schedule

Our Before and After school program accommodates children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old (K to Gr. 5) in the Pemberton Heights area.  Staff from Sunflower Early Learning Society provide walking drop off and pick up from Capilano Elementary School.

Transportation to and from other local schools will be discussed on a case to case basis, but is not usually provided.

The Before and After School Program runs Monday to Friday, from 7:30am to 9:00am and 3:00pm to 6:00pm, (Wednesday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm to accomodate for early dismissal at Capilano Elementary) in term time.

We are open during all Professional Days at Capilano Elementary, plus we run camps in Summer, Winter and Spring School Breaks. We are closed on statutory holidays and weekends.

Monthly fees are averaged throughout the 10 months of the school year. Full time fees (AM & PM 5 days per week) include professional development days. If you are not full time, even if a professional development day falls on your usual day of attendance, there will be a fee of $60 for the full day of care.

Waitlist Policy

Please read carefully through the following information in order that you understand the process. A child is considered “on the waitlist” when a Waitlist application form is signed and returned to Sunflower.

No registration fee is required for the applicants on the waitlist

Priority Spots become available to persons on the Wait List only after the following priority groups have been admitted:

I. Children already attending Sunflower Before and After School care are given first priority for program selection, if spots are available in that program.
II. Siblings of those children currently attending the Child Care.
III. Children of present or past Board Members at Sunflower having served a minimum of 1 year on the Board
IV. Priority will be given to full time registration

Waitlist

Date of the application: your child’s place on the waitlist is determined by the date we receive your wait list form. Beginning at the top of the list, parents are notified via email when a space is available for their child. Parents are given 72 hours to notify us of their decision to either accept or decline the enrolment. If parents fail to contact us within the 72- hour period, the assumption is made that the family is no longer interested in our program and the child’s name will be removed from the waiting list. If the space is declined, the child’s name is removed from the waiting list. Because of this, it is very important to keep us up to date with changes to contact details (e.g. email address
and phone numbers).

Future Enrolment: It is NEVER too early to start thinking about registration. There is a shortage of spaces in our community for before and after school care. Many programs carry very long waitlists. Contact us as soon as possible to get on our waitlist for your best chances to get a spot for your child when it is needed.

Younger siblings of children currently attending our programs take priority over other families on our waitlist. This is what sometimes creates a stagnant waitlist. We often will only have a few spaces open up for the new school year and we fill those spots with a younger sibling of one of our current participants.

Your child’s sequence on the wait list may change from year to year according
to the Priority List.
